The MC 1600 is a phono preamplifier built as a symmetrical dual-mono design, with each channel using its own fully symmetrical amplifier section. Components include precision resistors, film capacitors and low-noise operational amplifiers. The unit is made in Germany.
Gain, impedance, capacitance and the subsonic filter are set with detented DIP switches on the underside of the unit. Each channel can be adjusted individually, which allows the preamp to be matched to different cartridge systems. The front panel has configurable RGB illumination.
For connections, the MC 1600 offers both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs, so it can be integrated into a range of analogue setups. The power supply section is separate and shielded, keeping it apart from the signal path. The housing measures 30 x 9 x 30.1 cm and the unit weighs 5 kg.
