Cookies
Version 2026-10-05. In force from 2026-10-05.
In short
- Essential cookies (signing in, security, language, country) are always on: the site would not work without them.
- Analytics only if you allow it. Until you choose, or if you decline, your browser holds no ID of ours and we collect nothing about you; we only count totals without any ID.
- You can change your choice at any time: “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page or in your account settings.
- We don't use advertising cookies or outside analytics tools. When the payment form or payout setup is opened, Stripe uses its own cookies to detect fraud.
1. Essential cookies
| Cookie | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
__Host-sm_session | Sign-in session | 400 days, renewed when you visit |
__Host-sm_pkce | Secure sign-in with Google | 1 hour |
__Host-sm_mail | The email link works only in the browser where you requested it | 1 hour |
__Host-sm_ho | Moving from the app to the website | 2 min |
lang | Chosen language | 1 year |
market_country | Chosen country on market.soundium.com | 1 year |
tz | Your time zone (for showing dates) | 1 year |
consent | Your analytics choice (yes or no), the policy version and the date | 12 months |
2. Analytics cookie (only with consent)
| Cookie | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
anon_id | A random ID that links your visits | 12 months |
When you allow analytics, we record in our own database: which page you opened (the address without its query), where you came from (the previous page, or only the other site's address), the search text, the listing viewed, the site and the language. When you're signed in, also the member ID and actions: saving, starting a chat, an offer, starting a checkout, paying, signing up, publishing a listing. The data stays with us: we use no outside analytics tools and no session recording, and members can't see this data. We keep the events for 13 months.
A choice made in a browser before you sign in is saved to your account when you sign in. Your account's choice applies in every browser where you sign in. If you chose “no” anywhere, “no” applies until you change it yourself.
Without consent we only count totals, storing nothing in your browser and without any ID: how many times a day each type of page was opened and which search texts were searched how many times.
3. Browser storage
We also store in your browser (these are not cookies and are not sent to the server automatically):
- a random ID that changes daily, so views aren't counted twice — only if you allowed analytics (otherwise a view is counted on the server by the connection);
- recent searches, chosen shipping country, sound and desktop notification settings, dismissed notices;
- listing drafts until you save them;
- a cache of site files (service worker), so pages load faster; it is replaced with each version of the site;
- that you declined the offer to install the app (30 days);
- an old sign-in key, if you signed in before cookie sessions: it is moved into a cookie and deleted the first time you open the site.
4. Third-party cookies
The Stripe script and its cookies are loaded only when the payment form or payout setup is shown on screen, so Stripe can detect fraud. Once loaded, it stays until you close or reload the page; when another page or a paid order's page is opened afresh, Stripe is not loaded. See stripe.com/cookie-settings.
5. How to manage them
Change your choice with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of the page or in Account → Settings → Privacy: withdrawing is as easy as allowing. When you withdraw, anon_id is deleted and no new events are recorded. We record every choice and change (the time, the choice, the policy version, the member or browser ID, if any) as proof of consent and keep it for 25 months. When this policy changes, we'll ask again.
You can also delete cookies in your browser settings. If you delete __Host-sm_session, you'll be signed out.
