The 224ce-K DLX is a mid-sized Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric from Taylor's 200 Series. The top is solid Hawaiian koa, while the back and sides are layered koa with a poplar core. The voice is described as having a lustrous midrange, sparkling highs and a touch of low-end warmth. A shaded edgeburst gloss finish shows off the koa colouring.

Playing comfort comes from the slender Taylor neck, a Neo-Tropical mahogany neck with a West African Crelicam ebony fretboard, 25-1/2" scale length and 1-11/16" nut width. The Venetian cutaway gives access to the upper frets. Hardware includes gold Taylor tuners, a white NuBone nut, a Micarta saddle and C-Class bracing. It is strung with D'Addario XS coated phosphor bronze lights (.012-.053).

Amplification is handled by the Expression System 2 pickup, which uses a behind-the-saddle design. The guitar is made in Taylor's Tecate, Mexico factory and comes with a deluxe hardshell case. Right- and left-handed versions are offered.
