Description

The Babyface is a compact USB 2.0 audio interface offering 10 input and 12 output channels. It has two XLR mic/line inputs with digitally controlled preamps, individually switchable 48 V phantom power and a Hi-Z mode for instruments. Outputs are two balanced XLR main outs plus a separately controlled stereo headphone output. Converters run at sample rates up to 192 kHz, and the unit uses SteadyClock for jitter suppression.

On the digital side there is one optical port pair that works as either 8-channel ADAT (with SMUX support up to 192 kHz) or SPDIF, plus a MIDI I/O. Adding an ADAT converter expands the channel count. Gain, level, reference level, dim and input selection can be handled from the device using a volume encoder and two buttons, with LED meters for feedback. TotalMix FX provides a DSP-based mixer with a 3-band parametric EQ, low cut, reverb and echo.

All analog and MIDI connections go through a 15-pin breakout cable on the rear. The unit is powered over USB, with a 2-to-1 USB power cable supplied for systems that need it. Drivers cover Windows and macOS (Core Audio), and the interface is compatible with USB 3.0 controllers. It came in blue and silver.
