The Artera Solus Play combines a slot-loading CD player, a 32-bit ESS ES9018 DAC, a preamplifier and a dual-mono Class AB power amplifier rated at 2 x 75 W into 8 ohms. Left and right channels have isolated power supplies fed by a 300VA toroidal transformer, and volume is controlled in the analogue domain under microprocessor control.
Streaming is handled by DTS Play-Fi over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with the free Play-Fi app offering services such as Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, Deezer and Qobuz, plus DLNA libraries on a NAS. Critical Listening Mode allows up to 24-bit/192kHz, Spotify Connect is supported, aptX Bluetooth is built in, and Alexa voice control works with an Alexa-equipped device. Four digital filter options shape the sound from the CD drive and external digital sources.
Connections include coaxial and optical digital inputs, USB Type B, Ethernet, two analogue RCA inputs, RCA and balanced XLR outputs, digital outputs, a 12V trigger output, speaker terminals and a front headphone jack. It is available in black or silver aluminium.
