The 5020 is a two-way standmount loudspeaker with a 125 mm (5.0 in) mid/bass driver and a 25 mm (1.0 in) high-frequency driver. The mid/bass cone uses a single continuous curved profile, intended to blend smoothly with the tweeter and to give tighter bass that tolerates placement closer to walls. A larger magnet and voice coil assembly raises power handling by 50% compared with a similar driver with a 25.4 mm voice coil.
The tweeter is hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated from the front baffle, so pressure and vibration from inside the cabinet and from the mid/bass driver do not reach it. Its inner chamber is vented and the crossover point is set at 2.5 kHz. Inside the cabinet, Point-2-Point bracing stiffens the enclosure to reduce low-frequency vibration. The baffle is laminated with butyl rubber and finished with a black acrylic trim, and no fixings are visible on the front.
The speaker connects to a passive stereo amplifier, with a recommended amplifier power of 25-100 W. The nominal impedance is 6 Ω. It comes as a pair in Satin Black, Satin White, Santos Rosewood or Holm Oak, with grilles and foam bungs included.
