The Ci3160RLM-THX is a flush-mounted speaker from KEF's R Series architectural range. It combines a 6.5-inch Uni-Q midrange driver with a 1-inch vented aluminium tweeter dome, and the Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) system, which is described as absorbing 99% of unwanted sound from the tweeter. Two further 6.5-inch hybrid aluminium drivers handle the low end. The speaker is THX Certified Ultra.
The front baffle is a precision-machined aluminium plate 5.5 mm thick, intended to limit vibration. The Uni-Q array acts as a single point source and gives a nominal coverage of 150°, widening the listening area. The crossover points are 640 Hz and 2.6 kHz, and the recommended amplifier power is 50 to 350 W into 4 Ω.
Installation is into a 660 x 209 mm cut-out in surfaces 6 to 40 mm thick, with a mounting depth of 99 mm. A paintable magnetic metal grille is included, and an optional black cloth grille is available. The finish is Aluminium Silver, with tone-matched Uni-Q and bass drivers. Connection is by standard speaker cable from an external amplifier.
