The Blurst is a modulated filter pedal that brings ideas from keyboard and modular synthesizers to guitar and bass. It works like an envelope filter, but the sweep is driven by an internal oscillator instead of picking dynamics. The filter is an analog low-pass design with adjustable resonance, and the LFO can be set to a triangle, rising sawtooth or falling sawtooth shape.
Modulation speed is set with the Rate knob or by tapping a tempo on the tap footswitch. A tap divide switch turns the tapped quarter notes into quarter, dotted eighth or triplet rhythms. The Range knob sets how wide the filter sweeps, Blend mixes dry and filtered signal, and Volume sets the output level in effect mode.
An EXP jack accepts a TRS expression pedal or a control voltage source, such as the EHX 8 Step Program Analog Expression/CV Sequencer. The EXP mode switch assigns the pedal to range, rate or filter. The pedal has mono input and output jacks, buffered bypass, and runs from the included power adapter.
