The RS 4 Pro is a three-axis motorised gimbal with carbon fiber axis arms and a 4.5 kg (10 lbs) payload rating. Motor torque is raised by 20% compared with the RS 3 Pro. It uses a fourth-generation stabilization algorithm and has a Car Mount mode tuned for vehicle vibration and wind. A redesigned horizontal plate allows a switch to vertical shooting without extra accessories, though the gimbal needs rebalancing afterwards. Balancing is helped by dual roll-axis bearings, Teflon-coated axes, a tilt-axis fine-tuning knob and a placement guide on the upper quick-release plate.
Operation is through an OLED touchscreen with automatic screen lock, second-generation automated axis locks, and a switch between PF, PTF and FPV modes. The joystick can control either gimbal movement or lens zoom, and the trigger can be set to FPV mode. Bluetooth supports wireless shutter and zoom control.
The gimbal works with the DJI Focus Pro system (LiDAR, motor and hand unit), DJI Transmission, Ronin 4D Hand Grips, Master Wheels, the High-Bright Remote Monitor and the Ronin Image Transmitter. These parts are sold separately, and the DJI RS SDK protocol allows third-party rigs such as jibs, cable cams and sliders. The DJI RS BG70 battery grip extends runtime and can power accessories over USB-C. First activation requires the DJI Ronin app.
