Description
The BP-1W is a compact analog booster and preamp pedal. A mode switch selects between CE, RE and NAT voicings. CE recreates the bright, bell-like preamp of the BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble with tight low end. RE recreates the fatter, warmer preamp of the Roland RE-201 Space Echo, with more saturation and compression as gain rises. NAT is a punchy, natural clean boost with minimal coloration.
The Gain knob sets how much saturation is added in each mode, and the Level knob sets overall output volume, either to balance effect and bypass levels or to push the inputs of following pedals and amps. A rear-panel switch chooses between a standard buffer and a vintage buffer with lower input impedance, which gives a warmer tone and smoother dynamics, especially with passive pickups. The standard buffer stays active when the pedal is bypassed.
The pedal has 1/4-inch input and output jacks and a DC input. It runs on a 9 V alkaline battery or an optional PSA-series AC adaptor.
