Description

Vestlyd M8C Active – Full-Range Power Monitors With No Subwoofer Needed

The Vestlyd M8C Active is a complete stereo system inside two cabinets: an 8-inch coaxial Power Monitor driven by four independent Class D amplifier channels, reaching below 40 Hz on its own. Nothing else is required between your source and the sound.

Key Features

  • 4 x 75 W of Class D power: Each driver gets its own PWM Class D channel, which is what separates a true active design from a two-amp powered speaker.
  • 8-inch coaxial Power Monitor design: The 1-inch titanium dome compression tweeter sits inside the paper woofer motor, so the woofer also loads the tweeter like a horn and lifts its efficiency.
  • Output below 40 Hz: 36 Hz at -6 dB from dual front ports, which is subwoofer territory from the main speakers themselves.
  • HDMI eARC for the TV: One cable to the television, with automatic power-up on every input except Bluetooth and phono.
  • Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX HD, aptX Low Latency and AAC: Up to 24-bit/192 kHz resolution over wireless.
  • Pro and analogue inputs: XLR/6.35 mm combo, RCA with switchable phono MM stage, optical digital and USB-C for a computer.
  • Three voicings plus tone control: Music, film and neutral profiles, with left/right assignment and bass and treble trim on the rear buttons.
  • Sub out and 35 mm pole socket: Room for a subwoofer if you insist, and stand or pole mounting when the shelf is not an option.

Customer Benefits

Most systems that play this loud and this low are three or four separate purchases: speakers, amplifier, subwoofer, cables. The M8C Active collapses that into one. Kick drums land with the weight you expect from a much larger setup, film soundtracks keep their low end without a box in the corner, and the wide dispersion of the coaxial driver means you do not have to sit in one exact chair to hear it properly. Switch to the neutral voicing and the same pair works as a monitor for mixing.

Use Cases / Ideal For

Medium and large living rooms where the system has to carry music, film and gaming on its own. Vinyl listening through the built-in phono MM stage. Television sound over HDMI eARC, at levels a soundbar cannot reach. Home studios that want monitor accuracy from the neutral voicing and party volume from the music voicing on the same pair.

Compatibility

  • Turntables: Moving-magnet cartridges connect directly to the RCA input set to phono; moving-coil needs an external step-up.
  • Televisions: Any TV with an HDMI ARC or eARC port.
  • Computers: USB-C audio, plus optical for consoles and streamers.
  • Stands: Vestlyd M-Stands, or any stand and 35 mm pole with a flat top plate.
  • Subwoofers: Any powered subwoofer with a line-level input, via the sub out.

Pros & Cons

✅ Pros:

  • Genuine full-range output below 40 Hz with no subwoofer
  • Four discrete amplifier channels rather than the usual two
  • Input list covers TV, turntable, computer and phone without extra boxes
  • Coaxial driver gives a wide, forgiving sweet spot

⚠️ Cons:

  • Large and heavy for a bookshelf; stands or a deep shelf are worth planning for
  • No Wi-Fi streaming or multi-room app

The M8C Active is the bigger of the two Vestlyd Power Monitors, and the right choice when the room is generous and you would rather buy one pair of speakers than a stack of components. Its smaller sibling, the M6C Active, covers tighter rooms with the same connections and voicings.
