Description

Modor DR-2 – DSP-Powered Digital Drum Synthesis

The Modor DR-2 is a 6-channel digital drum synthesizer that generates every sound from scratch using DSP algorithms instead of samples or analog emulation. Built for musicians who want hands-on sound design at the drum-machine level, it combines deep synthesis, a feature-packed step sequencer, and per-channel processing in a compact 19'' rack format.

Key Features

  • 6 DSP drum channels: Bass drums, snares, toms, claps, cymbals and bassline synth voices, each with up to 12 dedicated sound parameters.
  • 128-step sequencer: Per-step parameter locks, accents, flams, rolls, reverse and break functions for evolving patterns.
  • Per-channel processing: Distortion, parametric EQ, tilt filter and 8:1 compressor with sidechain on every track.
  • Polyclocks & tuplets: Two M:N polyrhythmic clocks for complex grooves and modulation.
  • 6 individual outs + stereo master: Send each voice to its own channel for external mixing or processing.
  • Full MIDI & clock sync: MIDI In/Out/Thru plus 24/48 PPQN Clock In/Out.

Customer Benefits

Because every drum is synthesized in real time, the DR-2 lets you sculpt punchy kicks, glassy hats and bouncy bassline notes that move with you – no sample folders, no static loops. The hands-on layout, combined with parameter locks across 128 steps, makes the DR-2 a creative tool for live performance and studio production alike.

Use Cases / Ideal For

Ideal for live electronic performers, studio producers, and sound designers who want a deeply programmable drum voice that lives outside the sampled-drum world.

Compatibility

Works with any MIDI host: DAWs over USB-MIDI interfaces, hardware sequencers via DIN, and modular setups via Clock In/Out.

Pros & Cons

✅ Pros:

  • Synthesis-first sound design with up to 12 parameters per voice
  • Powerful 128-step sequencer with parameter locks
  • Per-channel effects chain on every drum

⚠️ Cons:

  • Does not play back samples – synthesis only
  • 16x2 LCD requires menu-diving for some deeper edits

If you've been chasing a drum machine that thinks like a synth, the Modor DR-2 puts a full DSP voice under every fader.
