The ZSG-1 is a back electret condenser shotgun microphone with a super-cardioid pattern. Off-axis rejection and a frequency response tuned for speech make it suited to recording dialogue and sound effects while reducing background noise. It is mono and weighs 40 g.
It mounts to a camera hot shoe and connects with the supplied 3.5 mm cable, so audio is recorded straight into the video. It can also be used with a phone to improve on the built-in microphone, or taken off-camera on a boom pole or pistol grip and plugged into a recorder. A purpose-designed shock mount is included to reduce handling noise and vibration.
The microphone runs on plug-in power of 2 to 5 V and has a stereo mini output. The package includes the SMM-3 shock mount, a WSM-3 windscreen and a 3.5 mm stereo mini cable.
