A 16-track portable SD-card recorder with eight combo inputs, built-in stereo condenser microphones and onboard DSP effects. It also works as an 8-in/2-out USB audio interface and DAW control surface, aimed at home and on-location recording.

The R16 records up to eight tracks at once and plays back sixteen, saving WAV files to SD or SDHC cards up to 32 GB. A built-in mixer provides real faders, a 3-band EQ, pan and two effect sends per track, and allows overdubbing, punch-in/out, bouncing and mixdown to stereo. A chromatic tuner and metronome are built in, and it can run from six AA batteries for field use.
There are 135 DSP effects, covering insert effects such as EQ and dynamics, send-return effects such as reverb and delay, guitar and bass amp models, mic preamp models and mastering algorithms including multi-band compression. Effect parameters can be edited and stored in 390 patch memories.
Eight XLR/TRS combo inputs take mic or line signals, with Input 1 also accepting Hi-Z instrument signals and +48V phantom power available on Inputs 5 and 6. Outputs are dual balanced TRS jacks plus a headphone output. Over USB 2.0 the unit works as an audio interface for Mac and Windows, as a Mackie Control-emulating control surface for DAWs, and as an SD card reader. Two units can be linked over USB for 32 playback tracks.
