The Q4n records H.264 video in MOV format to SD, SDHC or SDXC cards, with resolutions up to 2304 x 1296 (3M HD) and 1080p at 30 fps. 720p can run at 60 fps. A fixed-focus 160° lens and 1/3-inch 3-megapixel CMOS sensor handle the picture, and a Scene menu offers lighting presets for venues such as concert halls, dance clubs, jazz clubs, garages and outdoors. Five digital zoom steps and a self-timer are included.
On the audio side, the built-in stereo microphones can be set to 120° A/B or X/Y and take sound levels up to 140 dB SPL. A stereo mini-jack input with plug-in power accepts external sources. Auto Gain presets, a low-cut filter, and a supplied windscreen are provided. The unit can also work as a standalone audio recorder saving WAV up to 24-bit / 96 kHz or AAC.
Connection is via micro HDMI output to a TV, a USB port for data transfer, streaming, webcam and USB microphone use, and a combined line/headphone output with a built-in speaker. A 2.0-inch rotating colour touchscreen is used for control. A rechargeable Li-ion battery is included and charges over USB.
