F-Control is a compact metal-chassis control surface that works alongside Zoom F8 and F4 multitrack field recorders. It provides nine 60 mm faders (eight channels plus a master), with hands-on controls for trim, pan, track arming and PFL, plus 12-segment LED meters for channel and output levels. Three user-programmable buttons and a dedicated time code button are included.
Track Scene edit buttons give shortcuts to the Track Name, Scene Increment, Scene Name, Notes and False Take screens. An external USB keyboard can be attached to a separate keyboard port to type this metadata in the field.
The unit links to the recorder over a single USB cable. A stereo cable carries the recorder's headphone output to the F-Control headphone input, so monitoring is possible from the F-Control headphone jack. Power comes from four AA batteries or from an external 9–16 V supply through a 4-pin HIROSE connector; USB bus power is possible with the F4 but not the F8.
