WA-412

The WA-412 puts four discrete preamp channels in one unit, built around a fully discrete signal path with Altran USA transformers on a balanced route. Each channel offers up to 65 dB of gain, and a separate output control lets the user trade gain against output level: high gain with low output gives a more overdriven, harmonically rich sound, while low gain with high output sounds more open and dynamic.

Every channel carries the tools needed for tracking: a polarity button that inverts phase by 180 degrees, a -20 dB pad for loud sources on sensitive mics, LED metering to watch for clipping before the signal reaches an interface, and selectable 48v phantom power. A tone control alters the input transformer to add air or sheen to the top end, which suits ribbon or darker microphones.

Microphones connect through rear XLR inputs. A front Hi-Z input with its own switch routes through a JFET stage for direct recording of bass and guitar.
