WA-1B
Mono optical compressor with a tube gain stage and transformer-balanced signal path, modelled on a Scandinavian-style 1B compressor. It offers threshold, ratio, attack, release and makeup gain controls for tracking and mixing vocals, bass, drums and guitars.
- Mono all-tube optical compressor
- Transformer-balanced signal path
- Threshold, ratio, attack, release and makeup gain controls
- Fixed, manual and fixed/manual timing modes
- Sidechain bus selector: Off, Bus 1, Bus 2
- Link up to 10 units; front-panel meter adjust

The WA-1B is a single-channel, all-tube optical compressor with transformer-balanced circuitry. It combines the smooth behaviour of an optical gain element with controls that older optical units usually lack: threshold, ratio, attack, release and makeup gain. This allows both gentle levelling and more deliberate dynamic shaping.
A fixed/manual/fixed-manual selection governs timing. In fixed mode the unit uses the natural attack and release of the optical element. In manual mode the attack and release are set from the front panel. The combined fixed/manual mode blends both release behaviours with a fixed 1 ms attack.
A three-position sidechain bus selector (Off, Bus 1, Bus 2) lets up to 10 units be linked together. A meter-adjust control sits on the front panel, so the VU meter can be zeroed without removing the unit from a rack. It is aimed at vocals, bass, drums, acoustic guitar and other highly dynamic sources.
