Reamper combines a re-amp box, a direct/preamp stage and an amp-input load in one unit. The preamp path and the re-amp path are fully independent, each with its own output level control, so gain can be set separately for studio line gear and for the front end of an amp. CineMag input and output transformers are used in the signal paths.
The input impedance is variable from 120kΩ to 1MΩ to suit sources from guitars and pedals to synths and line-level equipment. The direct signal can be switched between a JFET stage for a warmer tone and an op-amp stage for cleaner gain. A lift/ground switch is provided to remove hum and buzz caused by ground loops.
The AMP-IN/THRU section allows silent recording of tube amps up to 50W/8Ω without a cabinet when THRU is left unconnected. With a speaker cabinet connected to THRU, the signal passes to the cabinet with no power or impedance limit. For silent recording, an impulse response in the DAW is advised. Bridged amplifiers must not be connected, and amps above 50W need a suitable load on THRU.
