The Blofeld Desktop is a compact synth module that combines the oscillator models of the Waldorf Q series with the wavetables of the Microwave II/XT/XTk. Each voice has three oscillators with frequency modulation between them, two independent multi-mode filters with filter FM, and two drive stages with selectable drive curves.
Modulation comes from three fast LFOs and four fast envelopes per voice. A freely programmable arpeggiator offers patterns of up to 16 steps per sound. The unit holds more than 1000 sounds, supports up to 25 voices, and works as a 16-part multitimbral instrument with 128 memory slots in multi mode. Seven endless stainless steel dials, five buttons and a 128 x 64 pixel monochrome display cover editing on the unit.
For connections it has a stereo output, a headphone output, MIDI In and a USB port for MIDI in and out, and it runs from an external power supply. Audio is not carried over USB. An optional License SL adds sample playback with about 60 MB of sample memory, and soundsets are loaded as MIDI/SysEx files.
