Universal Audio Volt 4 Gen 2

Universal Audio Volt 4 Gen 2 – Two Preamps, ADAT, MIDI and Hub

Volt 4 Gen 2 keeps the two Tone Shaping Preamps and Smart Display of Volt 2 Gen 2, then adds the connections a growing studio asks for: extra line I/O for outboard gear, ADAT or S/PDIF optical input, MIDI In/Out and a USB hub.

Key Features

• Tone Shaping Preamp: Three switchable characters per channel: Warmth (tube, 610-inspired), Focus (American solid state) and Shine (British Class-A)
• ADAT or S/PDIF Input: Add up to 8 channels from an external preamp for 12 inputs in total
• MIDI In and Out: Connect keyboards, synths and drum machines on 3.5 mm TRS Type A
• Onboard USB Hub: Powers a USB MIDI controller and keeps computer ports free
• Smart Display: Full-color metering with Auto-Gain and Clip Protection
• 32-bit / 192 kHz Conversion: Up to 119 dB dynamic range on the mic inputs, so quiet details and loud peaks both land intact

Customer Benefits

Start with two mics and a synth, then add a full drum mic setup later through ADAT without changing interface. The extra line outputs feed outboard effects or a second destination, and the hub cleans up the desk. It is still bus-powered, so it can leave the studio when needed.

Pros & Cons

✅ Pros:

• ADAT, MIDI and a USB hub on a two-preamp interface
• Smart Display with Auto-Gain
• Still bus-powered

⚠️ Cons:

• Only 2 mic preamps built in; more mics need an ADAT preamp
• No onboard compression or talkback (that is the Volt Max range)

Volt 4 Gen 2 is the Volt to buy if your setup will grow.
