The GS Mini-e Bass is a scaled-down acoustic bass with a 23-1/2" scale length and a GS Mini body. It has a solid spruce top with X bracing and layered two-piece sapele back and sides. The neck is neo-tropical mahogany with a West African Crelicam ebony fretboard and bridge. It is strung with nylon-core D'Addario coated phosphor bronze bass strings (.037 - .090) and tuned to standard EADG.

The body, neck and peghead have a matte finish, and the guitar is non-cutaway with no binding or armrest. The nut is white NuBone, the saddle is white Micarta, and the tuners are die-cast chrome. Dot inlays mark the fretboard and the pickguard is black.

The ES-B pickup and preamp system is built in and includes a digital chromatic tuner, so the bass can be plugged in for stage or recording use. A lightweight gig bag is included. The guitar is built in Taylor's factory in Tecate, Mexico, and a left-handed version can be ordered through authorized retailers. Taylor approves only specific replacement string sets because of the short scale and bracing.
