The Next Generation 414ce pairs a Sitka spruce top with Indian rosewood back and sides on a Grand Auditorium body. Scalloped V-Class bracing with a relief rout is used for low-end response, volume, sustain and note-to-note agreement along the fretboard. The long-tenon Action Control Neck adds warmth and allows string height to be adjusted without a full neck reset.

The body has a gloss finish, black binding, a firestripe pickguard, a single-ring Italian acrylic rosette with black and white purfling, and faux pearl Weathervane inlays. The neck is neo-tropical mahogany with a West African Crelicam ebony fretboard, a 25-1/2" scale and a 1-3/4" nut. Tuners are Taylor nickel.

Amplification comes from the Claria acoustic pickup system, a piezo pickup and preamp with soundhole-mounted controls, including a Mid-Contour knob for shaping the midrange. The guitar is built in El Cajon, California and comes with a Taylor Deluxe hardshell brown case and D'Addario XS coated phosphor bronze light strings.
