Description
The 314ce Studio Special Edition is a six-string Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric built around solid sapele back and sides and a torrefied spruce top. The roasted top is intended to give the clarity of spruce with added warmth, while the sapele gives a punchy, woody midrange. V-Class bracing sits inside the body for more volume and sustain.
Playing comfort is a focus. The neck is neo-tropical mahogany with a West African Crelicam ebony fretboard, a standard carve and a narrower 1-11/16" nut. The body edges are chamfered, there is no binding, and the guitar has a full-body gloss finish on the top, back and sides, a Venetian cutaway, nickel hardware and a tortoiseshell pickguard.
For plugged-in use it has Expression System 2 electronics, which use a behind-the-saddle design. It ships with D'Addario XS coated phosphor bronze light strings (.012-.053) and a structured gig bag. The neck is made in Tecate, Mexico, and the body in El Cajon, California. Final finishing and assembly take place in Tecate.
