The SS-CDR1 puts a solid-state recorder and a CD recorder/player into a single 1U chassis. It records to CompactFlash media in WAVE or MP3 format and handles CD-RW recording and playback. Power-on play and automatic track incrementing, triggered by level or by time, suit unattended installations.
Audio connects through balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA line inputs and outputs, plus coaxial S/PDIF digital in and out. A sample rate converter is built into the digital input path. A PS/2 keyboard port allows folder and file naming and can also be used for remote control.
For integration with external control systems, the unit has an RS-232C serial port and a DB-25 parallel control port. The maker publishes a tested-media list covering CF cards from Lexar, SanDisk, Transcend, Kingston, PQI and Tascam in capacities from 512MB to 128GB. The model is listed as discontinued, and firmware v1.31 is the update posted for it.
