MX-2424
The MX-2424 is a 24-track, 24-bit hard disk recorder with a modular I/O design, built for studio and live-sound use. It combines dedicated multitrack operation with DAW-style file formats, Ethernet transfers and extensive sync options. The model is discontinued.

The MX-2424 records 24 tracks at 44.1 or 48 kHz, or 12 tracks at 88.2 or 96 kHz, in 16 or 24 bit. It has a built-in 9 GB drive, a front-panel drive bay and a rear SCSI port. Drives use standard Mac/PC formats (FAT32, HFS, HFS+), and audio is stored as SDII or Broadcast WAV files.
Analog and digital interfacing is handled by separate option slots, so analog and digital sources can be used at the same time. Optional cards cover balanced analog, TDIF, lightpipe and AES/EBU, in 24-channel versions. A 2-channel AES/EBU and S/PDIF coaxial digital I/O is also listed. A front-panel LED matrix shows key project settings, and Theater Mode and Power-Up Play are provided for live-sound and installation work.
For synchronization the unit generates and chases SMPTE and MTC time code, resolves to word clock and video sync, and locks up to 32 machines sample-accurately over TL-BUS. Control options include Sony P2 9-pin (RS-422), MMC, the optional RC-2424 remote and an Alesis LRC remote. A 100 Mbit Ethernet port serves the MX-View GUI software and audio transfers.
