Two-rack-space professional combination unit with a MiniDisc recorder and a CD player that can run independently or together. It supports CD-to-MD dubbing at up to 4x speed and suits broadcast, installation and rental use. The model has been discontinued.

The MD-CD1MKIII combines a CD player and a MiniDisc recorder in a 2U rack chassis. It succeeds the MD-CD1MKII. The two sections can be operated independently and at the same time, or linked for continuous playback between MD and CD with no limit on length. The CD section plays audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW and CD-ROM discs holding MP3 or WAV files.
The CD player offers pitch control from -50 to +16%, key control of +/-6 semitones without changing speed, auto cue, fade in/out, an end-of-message indicator and program, random and A-B repeat modes. The MiniDisc recorder supports SP stereo, MONO, LP2 and LP4 modes, with erase, divide, combine, move, title and grouping edits, overwrite, pre-recording, and track increment from the input level or the S/PDIF track data. CD-to-MD dubbing runs at 4x in SP mode and 2x in MONO, LP2 and LP4 modes. Titles can be entered automatically from CD-text and ID3 tags.
Connections are RCA unbalanced analog, S/PDIF optical and S/PDIF coaxial. A headphone output has a selectable source, and a common output can carry both CD and MD. Control options are the wireless remote, a PS/2 keyboard and RS-232C serial. An optional LA-MC1 card adds balanced I/O.
