The LA-81MKII is a rack-mounted line amplifier with eight independent channels. Each channel takes a balanced signal on an XLR connector and delivers it as an unbalanced signal on an RCA connector, so professional-level equipment can be wired to unbalanced devices.
Every channel has its own input level selector (+4 dBu or -20 dBu) with a fixed -10 dBV output, plus a trim control giving ±12 dB of adjustment for matching levels between connected components. A signal-present LED on each channel helps when designing a system or tracing faults. Each channel also has a ground lift switch, and an all-lift switch removes the ground connections for the whole unit. An earth terminal is provided.
The unit is built into a black 19-inch rack case of standard chassis depth, which makes wiring easier. It belongs to the mkII/mkIII line amplifier family alongside the LA-80MKII and LA-40MKIII. This model has been discontinued.
