HS-2
The HS-2 is a 2-channel solid-state stereo recorder and player in a 2U rack case, recording Broadcast WAV files up to 192 kHz/24-bit to CF or SD/SDHC cards. It suits broadcast, post-production and other professional audio work, as a replacement for timecode DAT and MD machines. The model is discontinued.

The HS-2 records and plays back two channels of audio as BWF or WAV files at 16 or 24-bit and sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz. Media are CompactFlash (Ultra DMA compatible) and SD/SDHC cards, and a mirror recording mode is available. AES31 import and export is supported.
There are three operation modes. TIMELINE mode emulates analog tape and allows non-destructive, DAW-style editing. TAKE mode allows destructive editing in the manner of a MiniDisc recorder. PLAYLIST mode is meant for flash-start playback. Playback level, fade in/out times and start/end points can be adjusted, and files can be edited during playback and recording. Operation is through a colour TFT touch screen, with jog and shuttle functions, Auto Cue, Auto Ready and Incremental Play.
Connections include balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog I/O, AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital I/O, a headphone output, word sync and video reference, Ethernet, USB, a PS/2 keyboard port, and parallel, RS-232C and remote control ports. Time-code sync and RS-422 control need the optional SY-2 expansion card.
