HS-20
Two-channel solid-state network recorder/player in a 2U rack case that records to SD/SDHC and CF cards. It has an FTP client and server, and event lists for scheduled recording, playback and downloads, so it suits installed playback such as background music and in-store announcements. The model has been discontinued.

The HS-20 records and plays two channels of audio on SD/SDHC and CompactFlash media, at sampling rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz and 16 or 24-bit resolution. It writes BWF files and plays WAV files. Media can be mirrored between the SD and CF slots. Operation is through a colour TFT touchscreen, with jog and shuttle, auto cue, auto ready and incremental play functions. It also offers a playlist mode and a take mode.
Time-based event lists can trigger recording, playback and downloading. Combined with the FTP client function, files placed on a central server can be fetched and played automatically at several locations. An FTP server function lets other devices upload to and download from the unit, and a telnet remote control and VNC are supported over the 1000BASE-T Ethernet port. AES31 import/export and JPPA flash start playlist import/export are included.
Connections include balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog I/O, AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital I/O, a headphone output, and word clock in, out and thru. A BNC input accepts video reference. Control options are a 25-pin parallel port, 9-pin RS-232C serial, a remote port, and PS/2 and USB keyboard connections. The optional SY-2 board adds timecode and RS-422 control.
