DS-M7.1

The DS-M7.1 is a monitor controller for surround mixing with digital consoles and DAWs. It accepts eight channels of digital audio and sends eight channels to amplifier and speaker combinations. Surround formats from LCRS up to 7.1, including 5.1 and 6.1, are supported, and any of them can be downmixed to stereo or mono to check how a mix translates to a smaller system.

Monitoring tools include a calibrated monitor level control with an LED SPL display, a built-in pink noise generator for calibration, per-channel mute and solo, per-channel delay compensation, adjustable dim, mono and alternate speaker switching, and surround bass management. A stereo control room input bypasses the surround routing for stereo work, and two sources can be switched to compare a stem recorder with the console output or an independent source.

TDIF, AES/EBU and ADAT connections serve a stem recorder, while the console connects over TDIF as standard. AES/EBU and ADAT console inputs need optional cards. Outputs are analog and AES/EBU, and an AES/EBU insert allows monitoring through an encoder. The unit works at 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz.
