Description

The DR-701D records up to six simultaneous tracks to SD, SDHC or SDXC cards as WAV or BWF files at 44.1, 48, 96 or 192 kHz and 16 or 24 bit. At 192 kHz it is limited to two tracks. Recording modes are MONO, STEREO, 2MIX, DUAL MONO, DUAL ST and DUAL2MIX. Four inputs take XLR or 6.3 mm TRS plugs, with switchable 24 V or 48 V phantom power, and there are two 3.5 mm EXT IN jacks that can supply plug-in power.

A built-in mixer provides pan, level and solo monitoring and can output a four-channel mix. Other processing includes a five-position low-cut filter, a multiband limiter, a delay of up to ±150 ms, a mid-side decoder and automatic or manual slate tone. Firmware V2.00 added Ambisonics recording in A-format and B-format, with AmbiX and FuMa support.

For camera work, the HDMI port can synchronise the clock and the record start and stop with a compatible camera, and cascade several units. A BNC input accepts SMPTE timecode. A 3.5 mm output feeds audio to a DSLR camera, and a camera input allows monitoring of the camera's sound. Files transfer over USB 2.0 through a Micro-B port. Power comes from four AA batteries, USB bus power or an optional AC adapter or BP-6AA battery pack.
