The DR-10SG combines a linear PCM recorder with a supercardioid shotgun microphone in one unit that sits on a camera's accessory shoe or on a tripod thread. It records mono or poly WAV (BWF) files at 44.1 or 48 kHz and 16 or 24 bit to microSD or microSDHC cards. Firmware V2.00 adds MP3 recording at 128 and 192 kbps, level meters during recording and playback, independent level settings in dual recording, and dual recording of poly files.
For video work it offers a slate tone for syncing with picture, a camera out jack shared with the headphone output, and an attenuation cable that matches the output level to a camera input. Dual recording writes two files at different gain levels, and a limiter, a 120 Hz low cut filter and four equalizer presets help adapt to the recording conditions. A noise isolation arm reduces lens operation noise, and a cable clip secures the cables. Time stamps in BWF files, time track increment splitting about every 15 minutes and automatic file closing help with editing and protect data.
The recorder runs on one AAA battery or USB bus power, with a Micro-B USB 2.0 port for transferring files to a computer and a 3.5 mm jack for headphone monitoring. A 96×16 dot OEL display shows its settings.
