DP-01
The DP-01 is an 8-track hard-disk digital Portastudio from Tascam with a one-knob-per-function layout. It suits musicians who want simple multitrack recording to an internal drive, with USB backup to a computer. It has been discontinued and replaced by the DP-03SD.

The DP-01 records up to eight tracks at uncompressed CD quality onto a built-in hard disk, with two tracks recordable at the same time and a dedicated stereo mixdown track. The internal drive has room for more than sixty 8-track songs. Each channel has a 45 mm fader along with separate controls for pan, effects send, high EQ and low EQ, so no page or shift menus are needed. An LCD shows meters, editing settings and locate points.
Inputs are two 1/4" TRS mic/line jacks, which can be used for dual-mono or stereo recording, plus a guitar-level input. An effects send and stereo return allow external processing. Track editing covers copy, paste, move, erase and silence.
Outputs are RCA line outputs, an optical S/PDIF digital output, a headphone output with level control and a MIDI Timecode output. A USB 2.0 port is used to back up files and move mixes to a computer. The related DP-01FX adds XLR mic inputs with phantom power and built-in effects.
