The DP-004 is a compact four-track digital recorder that carries on the idea of the cassette Portastudio, but records to an SD card instead of tape. It captures audio as 44.1 kHz / 16-bit WAV files and includes a dedicated stereo mixdown track for bouncing finished songs.
Two 1/4" unbalanced mic/line inputs are provided, along with a switchable guitar input. Recording helpers include repeat and record undo. A 1 GB SD card is supplied, and tested media is listed in a separate compatibility document.
Monitoring is through a combined headphone/line output, and a USB 2.0 connector links the unit to a computer. It runs on AA batteries or an optional PS-P520 power adapter, with about 8 hours of recording on alkaline cells. The unit measures 155 x 33.5 x 107 mm and weighs 360 g without batteries. The model is discontinued.
