Description

The DA-88 is a modular digital multitrack recorder with eight tracks at 16-bit resolution. Audio is stored on Hi-8 cassettes, which made digital multitrack recording affordable for home studios when the unit was introduced in 1993.

Optional synchronization features gave it a role in post-production audio, where it became a standard tool and where many units remain in service. It has a reputation for reliability, and it received an EMMY award for technical achievement shortly after its introduction.

The model is discontinued. The maker still provides a brochure, quick tips, an owner's manual, a quick reference and a list of warning messages for download.
