The CD-VT2 plays CD-DA, CD-R and CD-RW discs in 8 cm and 12 cm sizes. Its main practice tool is Variable Speed Audition, which slows or speeds playback (+16 to -50% in 1% steps) while keeping the original pitch. Key can be moved separately by up to 6 semitones either way, with a ±50 cent fine tune. A 128 x 64 dot matrix LCD shows CD-Text album and track titles, elapsed or remaining time and level meters.
Other practice aids include single, all and seamless in-out loops, a Flash Back function that replays up to 5 seconds, a vocal/instrument canceller with selectable pan point and frequency range, and 10 effect banks for user presets. A chromatic tuner with calibration from 435 to 445 Hz, a 3-octave tone oscillator and a metronome (40 to 220 BPM, 2 to 6 beats) are built in.
Two 1/4" mic inputs with volume control let a singer or player use the unit as a karaoke-style backing source. Outputs are a 1/8" stereo line out and a 1/8" stereo headphone out. Monitoring offers mono CD modes and a split mode. A foot switch can trigger five functions. Power comes from four AA batteries or the optional PS-P520 adapter.
