The CD-RW901SL is a slot-loading CD recorder that builds on the CD-RW900SL by adding RS-232, balanced XLR analog I/O, a wired remote and AES/EBU digital I/O. It records to CD-R and CD-RW discs, uses 24-bit A/D and D/A converters, and can also play back MP3 audio discs.
Recording tools include a timed track increment that inserts a CD track ID every 1 to 10 minutes, automatic track increment by level with a trim function, digital fade in and fade out, selectable copy ID, and CD-TEXT support. Digital inputs have automatic sample rate conversion (32 kHz to 48 kHz), and the analog inputs have dedicated level controls. Rewritable discs can be un-finalized or erased.
Playback offers pitch control of ±16% in 0.1% steps and key control (both for CD audio discs only), power-on play, index search, time skip, and all, single, program, random and repeat modes. A front-panel PS/2 keyboard input is used for naming tracks and for one-key access to menu functions. Later firmware added continuous recording between two units and a selectable disc reading speed.
