The CD-RW4U plays and records audio CDs. It is built around a TEAC computer CD-RW drive rather than a modified consumer player mechanism, which is rated at 100,000 power-on hours mean time between failure. The compact case lets it replace a regular CD player in most installations.
It records to professional and consumer CD-R and CD-RW discs, including standard data CD media as well as audio CD media. SCMS code status is user selectable, so copies can be made even from consumer players that apply SCMS codes. Recording tools include sync record, an auto ID function with adjustable sensitivity, a RAM buffer for accurate ID marks, digital gain adjustment and selectable digital fade in and fade out. Playback offers a 25-track program memory and an input monitor function.
Connections are unbalanced RCA analog in and out and coaxial S/PDIF digital in and out, using 20-bit A/D and D/A converters. A headphone output with level control is fitted, and the RC-RW700 wireless remote is supplied.
