Combination CD player and cassette deck in a 3U rack-mountable body, succeeding the CD-A550. It plays audio CDs plus MP3 and WAV files and suits installs and studios that need both formats in one unit. It has been discontinued and replaced by the CD-A580.

The CD-A550MKII combines a CD player and an auto-reverse cassette deck in one 3U chassis. The CD section reads CD-DA discs, including CD-R and CD-RW, and plays MP3 and WAV files. It offers random and program playback, CD Text and ID3 tag support, several time display modes, and shock-proof memory.
Both transports have pitch control, with a range of ±12.5% for CD and ±10% for cassette. Cassette playback and recording work in auto-reverse, with normal, chrome and metal tape types (metal is play only). Other functions include CD-to-tape dubbing with edit dubbing, CD-tape continuous play, power on play, power on record for tape, mono mix, REC mute and Return to Zero. Cueing aids are Auto Cue, Auto Ready, Cue Call and Incremental Play.
Connections are unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs for tape and CD, a common output that can be set to tape, auto or mix, and an RCA coaxial digital output for the CD section. A 55-key wireless remote control is included in the feature set.
