The CD-500B is a 1U rack-mount CD player for broadcast, installation and live-sound use. Its slot-loading drive uses brushless motors, and it reads CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs (12 cm only). Besides CD-DA it plays WAV files up to 48 kHz/16-bit and MP3 files up to 320 kbps, including VBR.
Playback functions include all, single, random, A/B and 99-track program play, incremental play, intro check, fade in/out from 0 to 10 seconds, frame-accurate search, skip-back play, resume, a call function that returns to the last play start point, and index or directory search. Fader start, event start and end-of-message functions are also listed, along with relay play across several units.
Analog output is on XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced connectors, with a mono output option and a front 1/4" headphone jack. Digital output is available as XLR AES/EBU, coaxial S/PDIF and optical S/PDIF. Control connections are RS-232C, a parallel D-sub port, 1/8" relay in/out jacks, a remote jack and a foot-switch input for the optional RC-3F. A wireless remote is supplied.
