The CD-240 combines a CD transport with a network player in a 483 mm wide chassis with rack-mounting screws supplied. It reads CD-DA, CD-R and CD-RW discs, including WAV and MP3 files on disc. Over the network it plays files from computers or a NAS on the same LAN through DLNA or Home Media, and it can also play online streams.
File support is broad: DSD (2.8 MHz and 5.6 MHz on the front USB and network inputs), WAV, FLAC, Apple Lossless, WMA Lossless, AAC, WMA Standard, Ogg Vorbis and MP3. WAV and FLAC are accepted up to 24-bit/192 kHz over the network and the front USB port. USB flash memory can be used on the front and rear ports, and an iPod or iPhone connects to the front port for a digital connection.
Analog output is on balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA, with output level adjustable from 0 dB to -14 dB in 1 dB steps. Digital output is coaxial and optical S/PDIF. A 6.3 mm headphone jack and a 100Base-T LAN port are fitted. A remote control (RC-1310) is included, and firmware V1.03 is listed for download.
