Description

The 414mkII is a Portastudio-style cassette multitrack recorder built around a four-track tape section and an eight-input mixer. It provides four mic/line input channels and two stereo inputs, so several sources can be tracked and mixed on one compact unit.

Sound shaping includes a 2-band EQ on every channel, two effect sends for connecting outboard processing, and dbx noise reduction to keep tape hiss down. A high tape speed of 3 3/4 ips is supported, with a high-speed transport for moving around the tape.

For connection, two inputs accept XLR microphones and a separate 1/4" Hi-Z input takes a guitar directly. An optional RC-30P pedal can be added for punch-in recording. The unit is suited to demos, use as a portable sketch pad, or practising recording techniques. It weighs 2.1 kg and is listed as discontinued.
