The 302mkII is a rack-mountable dual-well cassette deck in which each well has its own audio input and output. One deck can play a tape while the other records an external source, for example recording a meeting while playing back audio. A front-panel switch changes to a common I/O structure, which suits dual masters or saving mixer inputs.
Optical leader sensing detects the tape leader and reverses the cassette direction straight away, so there is no wait for the leader to pass twice. For very long recording or playback, the cascade functions trigger the decks one after another for unmanned operation, and cascade I/O and logic allow multi-machine setups. Each deck has Return To Zero for cueing and independent pitch control of ±10%. Dubbing runs at normal (1x) or high (2x) speed, and Dolby B and C with HX Pro headroom extension are included.
Audio connects through unbalanced RCA jacks, and a headphone output has its own level control. An optional RC-302 wired remote, which adds a record mute function, and optional WR-7000 cascade cables are available.
