The 2488neo records up to 24 tracks at 44.1kHz in 16-bit or 24-bit resolution onto an internal 80GB hard drive, with 250 virtual tracks available. Eight inputs are provided: four combo XLR/1/4" inputs with phantom power and four further 1/4" mic/line inputs, plus a guitar/bass input for direct recording. Nineteen 45mm faders and an LCD showing meters and waveforms handle mixing and editing, including copy/paste, insert and looping.

Processing is built in. Each of the 24 channels, the eight inputs and the stereo bus have a 3-band EQ with sweepable high and low shelves and a parametric mid. Up to eight assignable dynamics processors, a stereo compressor on the output, three aux sends and a loop effect (reverb, delay, chorus and more) are included, along with an assignable guitar multi-effects processor. Mix-down goes to a dedicated stereo master track, where mastering effects such as multiband compression, EQ and noise shaping can be applied.

The internal CD-RW drive writes audio CDs, imports and exports WAV files and backs up the hard drive. A USB 2.0 port connects to a PC or Mac for data backup and SMF/WAV file transfer. The unit has been discontinued by the maker.
