2488MKII

The 2488mkII is a self-contained multitrack recorder and mixer that records at 44.1 kHz in 16-bit or 24-bit resolution. Eight inputs can be recorded at once: four combo XLR/1/4" inputs with phantom power and four further 1/4" mic/line inputs. It offers 250 virtual tracks and a dedicated stereo master recorder for the final mix.

Mixing is done on nineteen 45 mm faders, including a master fader, so mono and stereo channels are reachable without paging. Each of the 24 channels, the eight inputs and the stereo bus has 3-band EQ with sweepable high and low shelves and a full parametric mid band. Three aux sends are available on every channel except the effects return. Processing includes a loop effect (reverb, delay, chorus and more), an assignable guitar multi-effects processor, up to eight assignable dynamics processors and a dedicated stereo compressor on the output. An LCD shows meters and edit parameters.

A built-in CD-RW drive burns audio CDs, imports and exports WAV files and backs up the hard drive. A high-speed USB 2.0 port connects to a PC or Mac for data backup and SMF/WAV file transfer. Compared with the original 2488 it has a larger hard drive, a new LCD, new guitar effects and improved CD mastering.
