The 130 is a rack-mountable cassette deck with separate erase, record and playback heads. This arrangement lets the user listen to the signal as it is read back from the tape during recording, so levels and other settings can be corrected while recording rather than after the take is finished.
Practical functions include Record Mute for creating spacing between songs, an RTZ (Return to Zero) function, and ±10% pitch control. A headphone output with its own level control is fitted, and the large, bright meters are meant to be readable from a distance. Noise reduction covers Dolby B and C with HX Pro headroom extension, and a switchable MPX filter is provided.
Audio connections are unbalanced RCA analog inputs and outputs. The deck is designed for 3U rack mounting. The manufacturer positions it for music educators and budget-minded project studios, and lists the model as discontinued.
