This deck is a professional cassette recorder with a three-head mechanism, using cobalt amorphous record and play heads. Tape transport is driven by an FG servo direct-drive capstan motor. A pitch control of ±12% has a clear on/off switch, and the transport has two locate points, return-to-zero and a repeat function.
For setup, it has gear/clutch coupled input level controls, front panel bias calibration controls and built-in tone oscillators, so it can be adjusted to different tape brands and types. Metering is by precision VU meters with peak LEDs, and an input monitor selector is fitted. Noise reduction is Dolby B and C with HX Pro headroom extension, along with a switchable MPX filter.
Connections are balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog I/O, front panel line inputs and a headphone output with level control. A parallel control port provides fader start and status tallies for broadcast use. The optional RC-134 wired remote is designed for this deck, and the LA-112 balancing kit is included as standard. The model has been discontinued.
