The QCI 8DC is a full-range in-ceiling loudspeaker built around a single 200 mm (8") Tannoy Dual Concentric driver with Omnimagnet technology. The driver uses a glass fibre cone and a high-excursion rubber surround, and it handles up to 320 W. It is described as reaching higher SPL and deeper bass than the smaller models in the QCI range, while staying easy to drive from a wide variety of amplifiers.
A Torus Ogive Waveguide widens the wavefront quickly, which improves high-frequency directivity and gives more focused image placement. The range shares one sonic signature, so models can be mixed and matched in stereo, surround or multi-room systems.
For installation, the speaker has a very thin bezel and a self-aligning clamping system in a single integrated unit. Round and square baffles are both supplied. The perforated, powder-coated, UV-resistant steel mesh grill keeps out dust and can be removed and painted to match the room's decor. The speaker is designed and engineered in the UK.
