Cheviot

The Cheviot is a floor-standing loudspeaker that revives the Tannoy HPD design of the 1970s. It uses a 12-inch Dual Concentric driver rated at 500 watts, with the high-frequency horn sitting at the centre of the bass cone to give point-source imaging. The enclosure follows the original Cheviot layout but uses newer high-density materials and extensive bracing with Differential Materials Technology (DMT) for driver coupling. Cabinets are handcrafted in Tannoy's workshops in Poland and the UK.

The crossover has two independent channels, one each for the low- and high-frequency sections of the driver. A front-mounted two-band energy control panel lets the listener raise or lower the high frequencies to suit the room. Described voicing is a fairly deep bass for the cabinet size, quick transients and slightly forward vocals.

Connection is by 24 carat multi-layer gold-plated binding posts, with a fifth post provided to reduce RF interference. The base has 8 mm coupling spikes for stability. Each unit ships with an owner's care package and a Birth Certificate of authenticity.
